He is 50 Years Old – click here

Tom Sutherland has crested, hit his peak, reached the pinnacle of age 50 and is starting his long slide down the other side.

The mission of this blog is to help family and friends celebrate with him and make the slippery disent more bearable. So, join in and share your thoughts, memories and photos of Tom as you knew him best.

We welcomed Tom to this world on a hot and blistery August 16, 1961 in Robstown, Texas. Since that day he has spread his mayhem and his joy through the Texas cities of Mathis, Pasadena, Abilene, San Angelo, College Station, San Antonio and Dallas. And, along the way, he hit Hamilton and Lorain, Ohio.

But it is Dallas that has been home. That is where he built his successful career in commercial real estate. But, more importantly, that is where he married Laura Murillo and they created a wonderful family of four – Brooke, Trevor, Brynn and Colton. That is where unbearable tragedy struck with the loss of Laura in January 2010.

His focus for these last two years has been on their children but also on building his business – CASE Commercial Real Estate Partners – with his partner John Conger.

But, it is time to celebrate his five decades of life and share with him and all has friends our best memories of Tom. Some discretion is appreciated! But, if he did it, he has to live with it!

Enjoy yourself.

Happy Bday Tom, from someone who has already crested. I had completely forgotten that you had dabbled a little in soft porn in college to pay those party bills of yours. :) lol.

From one ol Ag to another, 50 ain’t bad, lets hope the second 50 are just as good. Have a good one my friend.

Hey Tom! I had forgotten that you were such a baby! I always hated having a later birthday than everyone when we were younger, but now it’s not so bad, is it? I have so enjoyed looking at all the pictures on here – especially the ones of your sweet kids! Wish Bev and I could have been at the reunion to catch up with everyone. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and hope your next 50 years go by slower than the first 50!

Happy “Big 5-0″ Thomas Lee Sutherland III! Surely Tom Sutherland can’t be 50!!! I used to think that was old, but now that I have reached that age, I think of it as YOUNG! If my memory hasn’t failed me, I believe I met you in 8th grade at John Glenn Junior High School, home of the Raiders. You were new to the school that year and so was I. (I had gone to Lee in 7th) We went on to graduate from high school and go our separate ways. But I got a job my junior year in college at Circle T Sports. I’m sure that rings a bell. I was blessed with your presence when you would come home and help string rackets and fit snow skis. Your mother sold the shop right after I graduated. Back then I never thought of you as the marrying type and surely not with 4 kids. I can tell from what I’ve read you’re a wonderful, caring dad! It was my pleasure to see you at our 30th class reunion! Take care and Happy Birthday Tom!

This is one of those times where I wish I wasn’t quite so close in age to my older brother because it obviously means the half century mark is right around the corner for me too! But being so close in age was such a blessing over the years because I look at these commenters here and realize we shared so many close friends. And because we shared so many close friends we shared a lot of great experiences as well! Though our family moved on from San Angelo, there are so many great memories there. Certainly they are the fondest memories either of us have from our younger years. Tom could not wait to call my after his last CHS reunion to tell me of all the old friends he’d seen.

It’s been a great 49 years being Tom’s brother. He’s been a great friend, awesome father and fun-loving compatriot. So big happy birthday brother! See you soon.
